This rural home in Grimsby came with more than a few challenges—but that’s never stopped us before.
The gentleman who lived there had been ill for some time. He mostly kept to himself, and over the years, the home became harder to manage. When his brothers were finally able to access the property, they were met with what many families in similar situations face: a deeply cluttered space, signs of hoarding, and layers of neglect. The house was also extremely dirty—and had no running water.
Still, there’s always a solution.
So we bought several large water-cooler-style jugs and heated the water on the stove. It wasn’t glamorous, but it worked. We used that water to clean, scrub, and sanitize every surface we could. Sometimes, the only way through a job like this is to get creative—and keep showing up.
In five full days, we cleared and cleaned the home to the best of our abilities. It was a complete hoarding cleanup, one that required not just effort, but empathy. Because underneath the piles and the dirt was a story. A life. A man who’d been doing the best he could, until he couldn’t anymore.
